The story takes place in France in 1940, when the iron hoofs of the Germans broke the serenity shrouded in this beautiful land, located in a small village in the Strait of Calais province. In order to save their lives, the villagers decided to leave their homes. Paul (Oliver Gurmai Olivier Gourmet), as the village head, naturally shoulders the important task of guiding the villagers, while his wife Mado (Mathilde Senier Mathilde Seigner) also uses her unique way to bring confidence and hope to the villagers. Instead of following the army, the young Suzanne (Alice Issa Alice Isaaz) takes the 8-year-old German boy on the other end of the journey to find the boy's father, Hans (Gustdiher August Diehl), who is imprisoned as a war criminal. While Suzanne and the boy were looking for Hans, Hans never gave up the hope of finding his son.
