This is a touching story about the growth of a 16-year-old boy, Jamie Savat, in 1969. He was not the most popular child at the all-boy boarding school he attended, and alienated from his classmates and teachers, he firmly believed that he was destined to play Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of the Catcher in the Rye, and adapted the book into a play. After a series of growing spats with the boys, Jamie fled school to find the writer J.D. Salinger. During the journey, he met the eccentric urbanite Didigolin, who searched for Salinger together and discovered the meaning of love and life.
