This film is adapted from the 1997 novel of the same name by the Austrian suspense novelist Wolf Haas. Former Austrian detective Simon Brenner (Joseph hard Josef Hader) is assigned by his boss Bedi (Simon Schwartz Simon Schwartz) to a country hotel to look for a painter named Hervat to recover a yellow Beetle car. The innkeeper (Joseph Belle Beach Josef Bierbichler), the owner's daughter-in-law Porchett (Porchett Minimeya Brigit Minichmayr) and the waitress Alex (comparable Helzag Pia Hierzegger) are all cold to Brenner. The boss's son Polly (Christopher Luther Christoph Luser) is secretly looking for Brenner to investigate his father, trying to find the 130000 euros he embezzled.
