Adapted from the novel of the same name, the film depicts the deep-rooted racism and the trauma of war in French history through the words and deeds of veterans. The story takes place in 2003, in a small village in Burgundy, France. Solange, a villager, is about to celebrate her 60th birthday. Forty years after the end of the Algerian war, the local war veterans were tight-lipped about the past-until their comrade-in-arms, Solanchi's brother Fordwa, who had not seen in years, suddenly showed up at his sister's birthday party. The terrible memories of the colonial war began to emerge before people's eyes.
