The Free State of South Africa is a stronghold of the white South African minority. In this conservative rural area, power and male privilege are still two words respected by locals. Janno is a withdrawn, introverted little boy. His mother was a devout Christian. One day, his mother brought home Pieter, an orphan living on the street, and asked Janno to accept him like a brother. As a result, the two boys engaged in a battle for power, inheritance and parental love.
