The Freedonia country is in financial trouble, and it is only when the rich widow Mrs. Teasdale (Margaret Dumont Margaret Dumont) recommends Rufus T. Firefly (Groucho Max Groucho Marx) as the country's leader that she agrees to fund the country. Freedonia's neighbor Sylvania wants to attack him, and Sylvania's ambassador Trentino sends two spies, Chicolini (Chico Max Chico Marx) and Pinky (Hubble Max Harpo Marx), to spy on Firefly. However, these two unprofessional spies made a lot of jokes. Firefly's secretary Bob Roland (Zeb Max Zeppo Marx) asks Firefly to be more careful, but the dim Firefly doesn't take it to heart. As the conflict between him and Ambassador Trentino grows, war is inevitable.
