Nine-year-old boy Oscar Schell (Thomas Horn), whose father (Tom Hanks) was killed in the September 11 accident, left a shadow on his young heart. Oscar accidentally found an envelope with "Black" written on it and a key. Oscar believed that this was a clue left for him by his father. There must be some secret hidden behind the key. Oscar tells the secret to his silent grandfather (Max von Sydow). Every weekend since then, Oscar began searching for people with the surname Black in five Urban area. During his lifetime, his father and Oscar planned a "reconnaissance adventure" game to find the Sixth Urban area and told Oscar: Don't stop looking. This film is based on a novel by writer Jonathan Savran Fall.
