Actresses Liz, Mariana and Gunilla are rehearsing the Greek classical dramatist Aristophanes' Ristratta. During the rehearsal, the three women can't help but associate the experiences of the characters in the play with their personal lives. Liz's husband, a rude stock bookkeeper, asked Liz to leave the stage and stay at home. Mariana lived with an older doctor and had a child, and the doctor reluctantly divorced his wife and lived with her so that she decided to stop performing. Gunilla's husband is depressed all day, she is busy all day, and she has to deal with five children. During the tour, the three women talked about their relationship with their husbands and their impressions and views on men. They imagined launching a rebellion. The behind-the-scenes female director Mei Chaitlin is a new female director in Sweden in the late 1960s. She skillfully uses Aristophanes' Ristrata, a three-act classical comedy about women, to contrast the struggle of three modern women for their rights. After its release, the film has attracted wide attention from film critics in Europe, the United States and Sweden. The film is a mockery of modern society, witty and sharp, and a delightful prelude to a modern comedy.
