Helmut Newton: Frames from the Edge

Helmut Newton: Frames from the Edge 7.1

The crew follows fashion and advertising photographer Helmut Newton, whose images of tall, blond, breasted women are part of a 20th-century pornographic fantasy portrait. He traveled from Los Angeles to Paris, from Monte Carlo to Berlin, and was here until he escaped from the Nazis in 1936. We saw him taking pictures, interviewing models and discussing his work. He told the students that this is not art, nor is it a good taste. We met in June, his Australian-born wife, who got married in 1948. The three actresses talked about working with Newton and the difference between posing and acting. A heart attack in 1973 refocused Newton, which led to more personal photography.
