In the late 1920s, in order to fulfill master's wish, Chen Zhen (Jet Li) went to Toyo to learn advanced technology. he fell in love with Japanese girl Photon Yamada (played by Nakayama). Because of the death of Master Huo Yuanjia, Chen Zhen returned to China to help Master's son Huo Tingen (Qian Xiaohao) preside over Jingwu's business, only to arouse his jealousy and lead to a struggle for power between master and brothers. On the other hand, Chen Zhen traces the cause of master's death and suspects that Japanese officer Fujita Gang (Billy Zhou) secretly used chronic poison to kill Huo Yuanjia. Chen Zhen asked the doctor to conduct an autopsy and confirmed that Master had died of poisoning. Fujita was afraid that the plot might be exposed, so he planted the blame and launched a series of fierce fights. Soon, Fujita challenged Jingwu Gate, and he induced the head coach of the Japanese Black Dragon Society, Yue Wen-fu, to challenge Jingwu School. On the day of the match, the two sides launched a thrilling decisive battle.
