At a time when militarism was rampant, a fishing boat called Boguang Maru was carrying dozens of crab workers in the rough waters of Kamchatka Peninsula. The ship is owned by a food company that specializes in canned crab meat and carries out frenzied fishing and production in the name of the empire. Crab workers come from different backgrounds, but all of them come from poor families. For that pitiful wage, they have to do intensive work every day and endure the punishment, beating and scolding of the devil foreman Asakawa (Xiujun Nishima) at any time. Crab workers cannot survive or die, and their feelings of despair and decadence spread wantonly in the "Boguang Pill". By chance, crab workers Shinzhuang (Matsuda Heihei) and Shineda (Hirowen Shinai) boarded a Russian ship, and they were infected by the free and happy atmosphere on board. After returning to "Boguang Maru", Xinzhuang encouraged everyone to rise up against the squeeze of the capitalists. This film is based on the novella of the same name written by Japanese Communist Party writer Takayashi Kobayashi.
