Katyn

Katyn 7.0

On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany launched a blitzkrieg against Poland and seized the western part of Poland. Sixteen days later, Soviet Russia entered Poland from the east and captured about 250000 Polish soldiers and detained them separately. In 1943, Germany, which invaded the Soviet Union, announced that it had found mass graves burying the bones of Polish soldiers in the Katyn Forest near Smolensk, and that Soviet Russia was the real killer of these soldiers. Based on real events, Polish director Angie Wajda finally brought this long-standing taboo topic in Poland to the screen. The film won the people's Choice Award at the 2008 Denver International Film Festival, the audience Award at the Ljubljana International Film Festival and seven awards at the Polish Film Festival for Best Screenplay, Best supporting Actor, Best Film, Best score and Best Sound effects.
