White company employee Chris Matthieson (Patrick Wilson Patrick Wilson) and black female writer Lisa (Kelly Washington Kerry Washington) establish a love that transcends race, and after marriage they move to the tranquil Lakeview Dam to enjoy their sweet happiness. But their joy didn't last long. The Matthieson couple's neighbor is Abel Turner (Samuel Jackson Samuel L. Jackson), a black police officer working for the Los Angeles Police Department. Abel was stern, unsmiling, and seemed deeply hostile to an interracial marriage, so Mr. and Mrs. Matthieson became a thorn in his side. After that, Abel tried to make all kinds of trouble just to drive the Matthieson out of the community. The contradiction between the two sides grew deeper and deeper until it was irreparable.
