In Berlin in 1938, the Nazis imposed a harsh policy on Jews. Richard the Jew and his German wife Claire sent a pair of children to the north of England through Jewish child protection organizations. Then Richard got an immigration certificate, left his wife and came to Cuba to start a new life, leaving Claire alone in Berlin to be insulted. After the end of the war, the suffering families met again in Germany. Every year, Germany produces a number of films reflecting on war. This film depicts war and humanity, war and peace, war and politics, with delicate and moving emotional lines, from the happy life of the family before the war to the fragmentation later on. Even if they finally meet again, the broken feelings can no longer be stitched together. The end result is to bring a heavy impact to the viewer: the war brings not only physical injury, but also mental trauma!
