"Le Grand M é li è s" (George Fransu, 1953; 25 minutes | 35 mm | Black and White | Voice) tells the story of another film pioneer, George Merry, in an intertwined way of record and fiction. Different from Lumiere, Mei Liai discovered the possibility of film expressing magical effect, and opened the door of imagination for film art through personal practice. This film not only selects many clips of Merry's film works to explain the birth of Merry's film magic and special effects, but also invites Merry's son to play Merry in the film. to better describe how the great creator was crushed by his competitors. At the end of the film, the director pays homage to the great innovator in the history of the film with the help of Mrs. Merry Eyre to sell flowers to her husband who is buried in Bellaise Cemetery. The film's director, George Georges Franju,1912-1987, worked in an insurance company as a young man, as a Packer in a noodle factory and a prop worker in the theatre, and became involved in the film career after meeting Henry Langlois.
