Sam (Gerald Butler Gerard Butler) used to be an idle drug dealer. After converting to God, his wife Lynn (Michelle Monaghan Michelle Monaghan) refused to be a well-paid stripper and found a regular job, which made Sam even more upset. However, every time he was forced to accompany his wife to church, his attitude seemed to change. Until one day, he suddenly proposed to his family that he would go to Sudan with a missionary. The family was shocked but had no choice but to let go, but the business completely changed the course of Sam's life. On the night in Sudan, Sam was always woken up by the noise, and the old and young of the village rushed in the opposite direction, when he learned that it was because the parents had to send their children to a safe place to sleep, because maybe the village would cease to exist tomorrow. Sam, who was trembling in his heart, decided to build an orphanage here, but in the turbulent environment and the merciless killing of the enemy, the guardianship of the orphanage was far more difficult than building it, and Sam's road had just begun. This film is based on the reality of a man named Sam Sam Childers.
