Max (Dustin Hoffman Dustin Hoffman) was once a hot newcomer in the press, and he was demoted for a mistake at work. Since then, he has been sent to a remote town to become a small-town reporter with unimportant news every day. One day, Max was interviewing the museum when a man named Sam (John Travolta John Travolta) hijacked the curator of the museum with a gun. It turned out that Sam, who used to be a museum staff, lost his job in layoffs, and could not accept the reality that he chose to express his anger in extreme ways. Soon, the sensitive Max found that he might be able to use the accident to restore his reputation in the press, so the ambitious he immediately began his work. With Max's broadcast, more and more media and journalists gathered around the museum, and soon the situation got out of control.
