The story begins in 1930 in Austria, where the Jewish millionaire Viktor (Moritz Braddo Moritz Bleibtreu) and his girlfriend Lena (Ursula Strauss Ursula Strauss) run their gallery meticulously, and business is booming, Rudy (George Friedrich Georg Friedrich), a fake Aryan, is their mutual friend, and they are very close to each other. Victor collected a painting by Michelangelo, but unexpectedly, this precious painting became a turning point in the fate of the three. The war broke out and the Jews became the target of the Nazi massacre. Victor was thrown into the concentration camp, and his collection of paintings was confiscated by Rudy, now an officer in the village, and it became a "tribute" for the Nazis to curry favor with Italy. Unexpectedly, the painting was accused of being a fake, and Rudy was ordered to find Victor, because he was the only one who knew where the real work was hidden.
