In the future metropolis, society is divided into two classes. It is the capitalists, led by John Friedson (Alfred Abel Alfred Abel), who live in magnificent skyscrapers, and the vast groups of workers who build the machines with their hands and maintain them day and night, who build and plan the huge machines that run the city. One day, in the beautiful garden that Friedson built for his children, his son Fred (Gustav Fr ö hlich) fell in love with the workers' daughter Maria (Bridget Helm Brigitte Helm) at first sight and followed her into the Underground Factory City to experience the machine accident. Stunned by the tragic scene, Fred decides to follow Maria; meanwhile, Friedson, who is puzzled by worker flyers, turns to his former scientific rival Lotterwang (Ludo Glenn-Rogge Rudolf Klein-Rogge). Lotterwang built a robot in the face of Maria in an attempt to incite workers to riot and completely destroy Friedson's robot world. This film is history.
