Synopsis: the Arkin Round Table Club, which is composed of American literati in the 1920s, is used as the background to describe the relationship between legendary female writer Dorothy Parker and many characters around her. The plot structure is loose and there is no distinct drama, but director Alan Rudolph succeeds in reshaping the atmosphere of the times and allows writers to spit witty and interesting dialogue from time to time. The heroine Jennifer Jason Leigh's gloomy personalized performance slows the pace of the film, but the writer Robert Bjelli, played by Campbell Scott, does well. There are many guest stars and writers in the film, which is especially suitable for audiences who are interested in American literature.
