Adapted from the British writer Eckley's novel, it tells the story of his bitter and happy life with the newly harvested sheepdog in his later years. Dogs sometimes neurotic, sometimes dog sex reveals, between people and dogs, a bit like lovers, but also a bit like father and daughter, meticulous and warm. Roger Ebert once again showed full marks for the film.
