The story of "Yi" began in the third year of Dazheng, that is, the early summer of 1914, when the plum was ripe for the first time. Futian Iwu, played by Ogata Quan, is a geisha intermediary in Kochi Prefecture, which is a humble profession. His wife, Tomita and demure and virtuous, is highly respected by the neighborhood, but she is also ashamed of her husband's career. Tomita Iwu knew this, and in his conversation with his wife, he confided his heart and regarded it as the starting point of his struggle. This is a slightly simple but warm family, in addition to the loving couple, there are two sons of similar size, Ryutaro and Kentaro, and in the days of lack of money, the kind couple even took in an adopted chrysanthemum. When the story entered the second act, the first year of Showa 12 years later, some changes took place in the family. The children grew up, and Iwu opened a theatrical seat, racking his brains for business. It seems that they are all common troubles in life, but the discordant notes appear at this time. The eldest son, long Taro, is so sick that he can't get out. Iwu hired a singer girl to perform, and the geisha who knew him well warned him not to be seduced by the singer girl. Then cracks in the family began to appear: Ryutaro was found to have tuberculosis, which was almost incurable at the time.
