Doctor Louis (Dale Midkiff) leaves Chicago and moves to a small town with his wife Rachel (Denise Crosby), daughter Ellie and son Phuket because of his work. His new home is near the road and there is a winding path behind the house. Neighbor Jed (Fred Gwynne) introduces the path to the pet cemetery, where animals who have died on the road for many years are buried. On his first day at work, Louis encountered a patient who died of serious injuries. he seemed to see the deceased talking to him, claiming that in order to thank him for his help, he would prevent him from approaching the ghost. Soon after, the child's cat was killed by a car. Jed led Louis to bury the cat in the Indian cemetery on the mountain. Louis, who was worried about his daughter's sadness, breathed a sigh of relief, but the resurrected cat became extremely violent and smelly. A few days later, the youngest son was killed by a car, and the heartbroken Louis wanted to bury his son's body in the Indian cemetery.
