On Christmas Eve, Matthias, who finished his work abroad, returned to the multi-ethnic mountain village of Transylvanian, Romania, where he was born and raised. Worried about the education his son Rudy had received from his Romanian mother Anna, Matthias longed to see his Hungarian ex-lover Chila again. He found his son and the whole village shrouded in a strange shadow of irrational fear and unease. When the bakery managed by Kira hired two foreign workers, deep-rooted impulses and resentments emerged, conflicts and emotions erupted, and the appearance of community peace was broken.
