One day in 1958, a scarred Anna Julin (Virginia Ryder Virginie Ledoyen) was hired to clean up the Saint Angels Orphanage in France at the foot of the Alps, which has a long history and accepted more than 300 children as a temporary children's hospital during World War II. Now the children go to the new place with the director Franka (Catriona MacColl), and the old holy angel will be abandoned and fade out of history along with its hidden secrets. Besides Helena, the Polish housekeeper, there is also a crazy little girl Judith (Lou Doillon) in such a big orphanage. She wandered through the rooms like a ghost, as if she were surrounded by invisible children. Anna was forced to get involved and gradually discovered the secret.
