Danvers State Psychiatric Hospital, not far from Boston, was built in the 1860s and housed more than 2,000 patients at its peak. It is now abandoned, waiting to be rebuilt and used for other purposes. Asbestos needs to be removed before reconstruction, and a company that specializes in dismantling hazardous materials has taken on the task. Five men, including Gordon, the boss of the company, walked into the gloomy behemoth. Gordon had a wife and a newborn daughter, who pointed out that he was making money to support his family, so he tried his best to do the work that he promised to finish in two or three weeks. Phil was a small leader because his girlfriend left with someone else and smoked marijuana. Hank is the guy who took his girlfriend, a smug gambler, and mocked Phil from time to time. He was followed by law student Mike and Gordon's nephew Jeff, a simple young man. As soon as the five men went in, Gordon heard a strange sound, which seemed to come from the past of the hospital. Mike was so interested in the history of the hospital that he found some tapes in the basement about a patient with multiple personalities named Mary Hobbs. Mike began to listen to these tapes. Phil began to doubt Gordon's spirit.
