Transvestite performers Banlina (Terence Stamp) and Mizzie (Hugo Weaving) get together again because of the death of a good friend. Mizzie gets a performance opportunity in a central Australian city to invite Bainina to go with her, while fellow performer Felisi (Guy Pearce) asks for a partner to realize her dream of a "desert queen" and borrows a modified bus as a means of transportation. The trio embarked on a fiery journey, the elderly Banlina kept secret about the past on the road, and had a lot of trivial quarrels with the young and restless Felicia, while Mizzie fell into memories of her marriage from time to time. They passed through the small town along the way, Daxiu, received a lot of stunned eyes, of course, but also praised. Because of a break down, Barry, the repairman who was unforgettable to Bainina, was able to join their journey. Everyone finally arrived at the destination, although the audience was not very enthusiastic, but Mizzie finally met her son, and Baina decided to stay with Ba. This film won many awards such as the Best Fashion Design Oscar in 1995.
