George Herman Ross, known as Babe, was the most famous legendary baseball player in the United States in the 20 years before the war. He grew up naughty, but because of his excellent baseball talent was promoted by Brother Mathias (James Cromwell), and finally walked from the church boys' school to the professional baseball field. As an adult, Babe (John Goodman John Goodman) first played for the Boston Red Sox, and his fat and tall figure didn't seem to match the speed and passion of baseball, but his signature home run fascinated the audience and frightened his opponents. He falls in love with the beautiful woman Helen (Trini Alvarado), but the marriage is not plain sailing. The wild Babe wanted to retire to the second line and become the manager of the baseball team, but after several twists and turns, he found that everything was empty, and his own era was gradually fading away.
