In the tranquil primeval forest, the mother bear is taking her child York in search of honey. Just as mother and son were enjoying the meal, disaster came unexpectedly. Mother bear was killed by a boulder, and York was so sad that she had no choice but to embark on the difficult road of living alone. It encounters an adult grizzly bear hurt by a hunter. The grizzly bear takes revenge on the human who hurt him and treats York coldly. But with a period of time together, he and York gradually became good friends. They were tracked by hunters all the way, and they also encountered all kinds of dangerous situations, looking for their own world in this crisis-ridden primitive jungle. The film is based on a true story between a man and a bear in the Rocky Mountains of the United States in 1885. it won the French Caesar Award for Best Director in 1989, the Geneses Award for Best Foreign language Film in 1990, the Silver Award for Best Foreign language Film Award of the Film Association of the German Academy of Art in 1990, and the French Film Academy Award in 1988.
