The story takes place in England in 1694, when the wealthy Mrs. Hobart (Janet Suzman Janet Suzman) hired the talented painter Neville (Anthony Higgins Anthony Higgins), who was contracted to complete 12 paintings for Mrs. Herbert's Compton Manor. During this period, Neville and Mrs. Herbert had a bad relationship. Talman (Hugh Fraser Hugh Fraser) is the son-in-law of Mrs. Herbert, who has always wanted the magnificent Compton Manor, but his wife, Mrs. Talman (Ann Louis Lambert Anne-Louise Lambert), has no children, which makes Talman regard Neville, who runs the estate as an eyesore. Soon, Mrs. Talman's name was added to Neville's lover list, and what he didn't know was that he had been caught up in a long-planned plot.
