Middle-aged man A (William Defoe Willem Dafoe) is a Greek-American director who is making an epic film about the love of his parents: in 1953, a Greek woman seeking political asylum in the Soviet Union, Eleni (Irres è ne Jacob), meets her long-lost lover Spyroth (Michel Piccoli). They fell in love again, but they were forced to fall apart after an overnight love. Spyros went to prison, and Eleni was exiled to Siberia. She soon gave birth to her lover's child, but eventually had to be separated from the child. She misses her lover from afar, while Jacob Levy (Bruno Ganz), a Jew, is exclusive to her. Under the background of intense turbulence, these three infatuated men and women wandered away, met and missed each other, and spent their whole lives searching for a true love. Life is small, true love lasts forever. This film is the second part of the Greek Trilogy.
