In the blink of an eye, it was 1979, and the second-generation godfather Mike Corleone (Al Pacino) reached his twilight years. In order to redeem his soul, Mike slowly ended the family's underworld career and turned to legitimate business. Mike's son Tony loves art and has no intention of taking over the family business. Michael decides to let his eldest brother Sunni's illegitimate son, the fiery and lecherous Vincent (Andy Garcia), inherit the family business and become the third-generation godfather. Mike's beloved daughter, Mary (Sophia Coppola), falls in love with Vincent, but is opposed by her father, and the father and daughter gradually become estranged. In order to legalize family assets, Mike used his network of connections in the Vatican Holy See to prepare to invest in the "stand firm" group, but was secretly obstructed by the enemy. The death of the Pope also made matters even more complicated. In desperation, Mike could only choose to use violence to solve the problem again, and his relatives were also involved in this bloody storm.
