The story takes place in the busy metropolis of Paris, where Father Colrod (Nigel de Bruni Nigel De Brulier) of Notre Dame adopted Quasimodo (Ron Chaney Lon Chaney) and arranged for him to live in a clock tower. He was called a clock tower weirdo because he was so ugly. Although Father Corold seemed solemn and respected by the believers, he was actually a very greedy and lecherous man. By chance, Father Corrod meets a gypsy girl named Esmeralda (Patchelus Miller Patsy Ruth Miller). The priest who is fascinated by the beauty of the latter instructs Quasimodo to take Esmeralda. Fortunately, the cavalry captain Phoebe (Norman Kerry Norman Kerry) rescues him, and Esmeralda falls in love with him.
