Thirteen-year-old girl Lin (Judy Foster Jodie Foster) lives alone in a cabin near the sea. Her father has died and her mother has run away from home. Her loving father helped her pay the rent for three years in advance until she was able to fend for herself. All she needed to do was to keep her father's dead secret in order to keep her residence right. But this is not easy for a little girl, in order to avoid suspicion, she has always been a loner, learning to deal with large and small affairs seamlessly. At peace with the rest of the world, she has to face harassment from the landlady and her son, who often find fault with the world. occasionally the police come to the door, and Lin needs to make up a series of excuses to cover up her father's absence. An accident made Lin meet a lame boy Mario (Scott Yakubi Scott Jacoby). Lin was wary of him at first, but after tests large and small, they gradually began to trust each other.
