The Night of the Shooting Stars

The Night of the Shooting Stars 7.5

The night of San Lorenzo is the night when a meteor cuts through the sky and the wishes of the volunteers come true. A woman recalled that a long time ago, a group of farmers ran through the countryside of Tuscany to escape the Nazis, and the sky was not filled with stars, but flickering gunfire. The film shows a series of scenes and characters seen by a 6-year-old child in front of the audience: on the night of August 10, 1944, a village and town had to choose between obeying Nazi fascist violence or fleeing to the US war zone. There are differences among the villagers because of their different moral views, educational levels and classes. Some decided to escape with Cannervano, while others followed the bishop to take refuge in the only church in the village. The next day, the Germans suddenly came to the village and carried out a manhunt. Those who did not escape were shot, the church was bombed, and the people who fled with Cannervano were finally rescued by the US military.
