In the deserted suburbs, by the clear river stands an old mill that has been abandoned for a long time. The human footprint has long since disappeared, and now it has become a happy place for animals to inhabit and breed. Birds build nests here, mice run around happily, and countless bats hang upside down on the top floor of the mill, looking forward to the coming of night. As night fell, the lotus gathered away its clean appearance, and frogs, crickets, owls, fireflies and other little creatures active at night played the Requiem of the night in front of the old mill. Just then, the cool breeze turned into a strong wind, dark clouds obscured the light of the moon, angry lightning roared in the sky, and a disastrous storm followed. It lashed out at the ramshackle old mill, and the small animals living here were also experiencing the baptism of the storm. This film is the best animated short film at the 1938 Oscar Film Festival.
