The film tells the story of a young British couple who came to live in rural China in the 1920s. in this beautiful but dangerous environment, they experienced emotional waves that were absolutely unimaginable and unimaginable in their comfortable life in their British hometown. and realized the true meaning of love and dedication. The story begins with the heroine Kitty, who accepts a marriage proposal from Walter Finn, a reticent doctor, in order to escape the flashy but empty social circles of London in the 1920s and to prevent herself from becoming an old girl. After bringing Kitty to Shanghai, Finn quickly devoted himself to his bacteriological research. The lonely Kitty had an affair with the charming married man Charlie Townsend, and when Fane found out, he was full of shame and hatred. In retaliation and in order to reorganize his life, Finn decided to put all his eggs in one basket and take Kitty to a remote town ravaged by cholera. Walter moved from a spotless laboratory to the forefront of the plague epidemic, and he slowly helped control the local epidemic. Kitty began to volunteer in a monastery and hospital hosted by French nuns and gradually regained the courage and meaning of life. Walter and Kitty were finally able to open up to each other, but as they became closer, Walter contracted cholera.
