The story takes place in the 1950s. Tara (Robin White Robin Wright) is a very eye-catching and beautiful girl. Many boys in town have pursued her passionately, but Tara doesn't seem to like any of them. To everyone's surprise, one day Tara announced that she was pregnant, but she refused to reveal the father's life or death, and chose to give birth to the baby and raise him on her own. Constanbo (Albert Finney Albert Finney) is obsessed with Tara. He feels Tara's rejection, but still believes that as long as he pays silently, he will one day be able to move the goddess in his heart. A circus comes to town to perform, which makes Tara liven up. Tom (Aidan Quinn Aidan Quinn), a member of the circus, attracts Tara's attention.
