Based on the award-winning book Toast: teenage Hunger by British food writer Nigel Slater, memories of childhood and his love of food will appear on the big screen. The mother of teenage Nigel Slater (Freddie Hammer Freddie Highmore) has never been a good cook and can't even cook simple soup. The most common food for a family of three is toast. When my mother died of an asthma attack, my father had to replace it with canned food. Later, the cooking cleaner (Helena Bonham Carter Helena Bonham Carter) grabs his father's stomach and becomes his stepmother. Growing hostility led Nigel to take a housekeeping class and learn to make a variety of sweets to challenge the skilled stepmother. Father had to put up with the constant quarrel between the two men every day and was forced to eat two endless desserts made one after another. The war between the two men finally stopped after his father's sudden death. Nigel, 17, packed her bags, found a job in the kitchen and entered the glorious hall of superb culinary skills.
