The background of the film is the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1995, and the famous "No owner's Land" should be at the same time. The old actor Bob Hoskins portrays Saatchi's cunning, insolence, panic and tenderness, while the little boy who plays Vilado convincingly interprets the image of a child in troubled times who is mature but not natural.
