Berlin is guarded by two angels, Cahill, who is indifferent to the sufferings of the world, and Damir, who is often sentimental about human sufferings (played by Bruno Ganz Bruno Ganz). The two men, dressed in broad angel robes, wandered around the city, listening to people's prayers and silently observing people's inner world. The worry of the circus Marian (Suvegodo Martin Solveig Dommartin) attracted Damir's sympathy, because the circus was poorly managed and faced with bankruptcy. Marian was full of worries. The angel actor of the circus moved Damir's heart, and he decided to turn into a mortal and pursue a happy relationship. This film won the best director award at the 40th Cannes International Film Festival in 1987.
