An entomologist (Eiji Okada) makes a field trip in the desert, but accidentally misses the return bus and is trapped in a small village in the desert. He settled in the home of a widow (decorated by Kishida today) and found that the road to the outside world had been blocked after being entertained. He slowly observed all kinds of oddities in the village, such as all the villagers went out to shovel sand every night to prevent the houses they lived in from being buried by the sand, all the water was controlled, rationed, and so on. The widow who took him in began to seduce him with her body and tried to reorganize a family with him. He repeatedly tried to escape and failed, so he had to give up on the surface and enter the village's way of life of regular labor and rationing, but he was always planning to escape. One day, the widow had a sudden illness and was diagnosed by the doctor as an accidental pregnancy. Everyone rushed her to the hospital, and the man finally had an once-in-a-lifetime chance to escape.
