This film is adapted from the Romanian theologian Iliad's novel of the same name. In 1938, Dominic Matay (Tim Ross Tim Roth), a philosophy professor over 70, was suddenly struck by lightning when he tried to kill himself. Badly burned Dominic is treated by Romanian doctor Professor Stan Currisco (Bruno Gantz Bruno Ganz). After recovery, Dominic finds himself rejuvenated and split into another personality. Not only that, Dominic also has special functions such as dream learning, perspective, mind moving and so on. In order to avoid the pursuit of Nazi doctor Rudolph (Andre Hannick Andr é Hennicke), Dominic moved around under a pseudonym in Switzerland, Romania, Malta, India and other places until the end of World War II. During a mountain climbing in the 1960s, Dominic met a woman named Veranica (Alexandra Maria Lala Alexandra Maria Lara), just like his young fiancee Laura. Veranica and her friend were in distress in the mountains. After being treated by Dominica, they had the ability to trace the beginning of language in their dreams, but it accelerated.
