Acorn TV teamed up with Channel 5 to produce the crime drama Dalglish Dalgliesh, with Dr. Foster's Bertie Carvel as the title character. The first season consists of six episodes and two episodes of a story, which will begin production in Northern Ireland in December. The show, created by an all-female team and adapted from the series "Inspector Dalgliesh Mysteries" by P. D. James (figure 2), will trace Dalgliesh's career in fighting crime from England in the 1970s to the present, with each story focusing on him solving an unusual murder that takes place in different locations and has different guest characters. The three stories of the first season will be adapted from "Shroud for a Nightingale", the death of a trainee nurse, "The Black Tower", an investigation into an abnormal home for the disabled, and "A Taste for Death", a homeless pensioner and a cabinet minister are found dead in a church.
