The play is adapted from Taffy Brodesser-Akner 's best-selling novel of the same name, and the author acts as a screenwriter. The story tells the story of Toby Fleishman, who recently separated in his forties, married before graduating from medical school, and now plunged into a new world of dating through APP, which made him experience a success he never had when he was young. At the beginning of his first summer of sexual freedom, his ex-wife Rachel suddenly disappeared, leaving him the children and has not been heard from since. Toby balances her life between raising children, reconnecting with old friends, a long-awaited promotion in the hospital, and the right number of women in Manhattan. But he realized that the only way to understand what happened to Rachel was to take an honest look at their marriage.
