Adapted from the first season of the podcast Slow Burn, the show focuses on unknown stories and forgotten characters behind the Watergate scandal-from the clumsy and opportunistic subordinates of President Nixon to the fanatics who helped and abetted them to commit crimes, and the whistleblowers who eventually led to the downfall of the entire corrupt community. The story revolves around Martha Mitchell. Martha, a conspicuous and outspoken Arkansas socialite, was the wife of Nixon's loyal attorney general, John Mitchell. Despite her party background, she was the first to issue a public warning about Nixon's involvement in Watergate, which led to the collapse of the presidency and the breakdown of her personal life. As attorney general, Mitchell was Nixon's most trusted adviser and best friend. He was grumpy, dirty and ruthless, but he was also hopelessly in love with his wife, who was famous for calling a spade a spade. Mitchell will be forced to choose between Martha and the president.
