Gentleman Jean Valjean (Dominic West Dominic West) was sentenced to 20 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread. After his release from prison, desperate by his life, he was taken in by the good bishop, but Jean Valjean, who could not stand the test of the dark side of his heart, stole the bishop's silver candlestick. After his arrest, in order to protect Jean Valjean, the Bishop admitted that he had taken the initiative to give each other a candlestick. The Bishop's move thoroughly influenced Jean Valjean and made him decide to turn over a new leaf and be a good man. Time flies, and the former prisoner has now become a respected mayor, but even so, the vengeful Sheriff Javert (David Oilo David Oyelowo) has never given up tracking Jean Valjean. In order to make up for his mistakes, Jean Valjean promised the prostitute Fantine (Lily Collins Lily Collins) to take care of her daughter Cosette (Ellie Bambo Ellie Bamber) after her death, while Javert's pressing pace forced Jean Valjean and Cosette to escape anonymously.
