The play is adapted from a novel of the same name by Bonnie Gammers, author, science editor and advertising writer. The story takes place in the early 1950s, when it was generally believed that women belonged to the family rather than the profession. Elizabeth Zott (Bree Larson Brie Larson) aspires to be a scientist in a male-dominated world. She works in a laboratory and is an assistant to the well-known scientist Calvin Evans (Lewis Pullman Lewis Pullman). There is an unusual chemical reaction between the two. However, as Elizabeth discovered that she was pregnant, alone and expelled from the lab, she shelved her dream and was inspired by the ingenuity of a single mother. Elizabeth accepted a job as a host on a TV cooking show, began to teach a country's neglected housewives and men who suddenly listened attentively to a lot of knowledge beyond recipes, and has been eager to return to what they really love: science.
