The play is co-produced by BritBox UK and Masterpiece, a subsidiary of PBS in the United States, and is adapted from the best-selling novel of the same name by Anthony Horowitz, the creator of Battlefield. Horowitz himself wrote the screenplay for six episodes. The author says the novel's narrative is influenced by Agatha Christie. This is a case in which the story revolves around editor Susan Ryeland, who gets the unfinished manuscript of the writer Alan Conway's latest novel, unaware that it will change her life. Anthony Horowitz is a British novelist and screenwriter who represents the novel as the "Young Spy Alex" series. His House of Silk is the only new Sherlock Holmes story certified by the Conan Doyle property Society, in addition to a copy of Moriarty. Horowitz was also selected by the Ian Fleming property Society to write two James Bond novels.
