The story tells that in the last years of Victorian rule, London was plagued by "Touched", a group of mostly women who suddenly showed extraordinary abilities, some fascinating and some disturbing. This group includes the mysterious, stingy widow Amalia True, and the outstanding young inventor Penance Adair. The two are proponents of this new underclass, building a home for "Touched" and fighting forces to win space for those who know there is no place in history. The show is Joss Whedon's first solo series since "Doll Agent" in 2009. He is in charge of the screenplay with Buffy the Vampire Hunter screenwriters Jane Espenson and Doug Petrie. Whedon withdrew from the project for some reason after being in charge of the first half of the first season. Philippa Goslett was chosen as the operator of the new series and was in charge of the second half. Whedon still retains the title of creator and executive producer.
